Bar and Snug

Visit the bar, sample a range of cask ales served, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. During the refurbishment, work included the restoration of the original fireplaces and one of the main features of the pub; the "snug" - one of only two of its kind in East Anglia.

Of 54,000 pubs in the whole of the UK, the Red Lion is one of only 300 that have escaped drastic alterations in recent times and has been recognised by CAMRA as 'One of Britain’s Real Heritage Pubs'. Its inclusion on The National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors is part of CAMRA's pioneering initiative for bringing greater recognition and protection to the nation's most historic pubs.

The Red Lion features in the CAMRA good beer guide. During 2000 we were voted Norfolk and Norwich CAMRA branch pub of the year. This followed being voted Pub of the Trail in the CAMRA winter ale trail, and we also came third in the East Anglian Pub of the year.

In July 2001, Norfolk and Norwich CAMRA voted the Red Lion to be the County Mild Pub of the year. More recently in September 2006 Greene King Brewing Company named us as East Anglian Pub of the year. In September 2007 we were named Greene King's Free Trade National Community Pub of the Year.
